Les Joueurs de Niches - Old Cajun Pranks
Les Americains call it skylarking, but to the Cajuns it was jouer des niches, and our ancestors of the prairies were notorious pour jouer des niches (playing tricks). Every community had at least one joueur de niche. Some of the pranks played were innocent and harmless, but others bordered on being criminal. Jouer des niches was most common on the prairies of southwest Louisiana during the Prohibition era.
